Which Celebrities Do Pilates and Why?

Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz, Selena Gomez, Reese Witherspoon, Megan Fox, Sandra Bullock and Kate Winslet.

What do these women all have in common? It’s not their celebrity statuses, or million dollar mansions. No, it’s their love of Pilates that unites them! These Hollywood stars are all well known for their fit, toned bodies – and each of them attribute their physiques to a regular Pilates regime.

And if you think it’s just female celebrities who love Pilates – think again! Even well known Hollywood hunks like Russell Brand, Hugh Grant, Danny Glover and Rod Stewart all tout Pilates as what keeps them young and in shape.

So if you’re wondering WHY Pilates is the chosen form of exercise for these stars, we’re here to help. From building a great core through to better posture and overall wellness, here is some inspiration for why you too should join us at Dynamic Pilates Manly (Pilates Manly, Pilates Brookvale, Pilates Northern Beaches) or any of our 4 studios across Sydney (Pilates Glebe, Pilates Crows Nest, Pilates Sydney CBD).

Kate Hudson

Another great reason to choose Pilates as your workout is that it works your core like nobody’s business! Just ask Kate Hudson. She’s been practicing Pilates for over 20 years. For her, she says it’s “all about alignment, elongating your spine and strengthening your core. It (Pilates) makes me feel my strongest.”

And she’s not the only one to do Pilates for this reason. After all, Joseph Pilates himself, the inventor of Pilates, first intended the exercise to be about the art of control. He designed the Pilates method to be about controlling your body, mind, and muscles: focus on core muscles in the “powerhouse” (abs, pelvic floor, lower back)

Jennifer Aniston

Pilates focuses very strongly on your core, which means that almost every exercise works in some way to correct or improve your posture. Jennifer Aniston, star of the hit TV series Friends, is a practitioner of Pilates for this very reason. Aniston, when speaking about Pilates, said: “It’s great. I had a hip problem. I had a chronic back, a pinched nerve and a hip problem and it’s completely solved all of it. I love it. It makes me feel like I’m taller.”

If that’s not a glowing endorsement of Pilates for your posture, then we don’t know what is! You certainly don’t see any celebs slouching on the red carpet now, do you!?

Jamie-Lee Curtis

Most importantly, Pilates is a vital part of a great all-round wellness routine. It it designed for the body and the soul, from the controlled movements to the social aspect of a group class and all the way through to the endorphins that are released during every Pilates workout. Jamie-Lee Curtis agrees. She says that “Pilates is the only exercise program that has changed my body AND made me feel truly great.”

Can you picture your wellness routine in your mind right now? You’ve just completed your morning Pilates routine (read more about why you should do Pilates in the morning here). You grab a post-workout smoothie or coffee, before heading down to the beach to enjoy the fresh air and to clear your mind before heading off to work with a positive mindset. If you’re on the Northern Beaches (Pilates Manly, Pilates Northern Beaches, Pilates Brookvale), this just might be your new daily routine!

So there you have it – celebrities DEFINITELY love how Pilates makes them look and feel, and you will love it too. Join us for a class morning, noon or night at any of our four convenient studios across Sydney in Manly, Crows Nest, Glebe and the CBD.

See you soon!
