We are so excited to be relaunching our popular 30 Day Challenge on Monday, 12 October 2020.
The Challenge is always super popular with Dynamic Pilates clients as it’s a great kick start to a healthy routine of regular Pilates classes and healthy eating. The Challenge nutrition guide is strict but it has proven to help get some great results. This Challenge, we are lucky to have some extra support to help Challengers keep on track with the nutrition element of the 30 Day Challenge.
Meet Sarafina – Our Dynamic Pilates 30 Day Challenge Nutritionist
Most of you will know Sarafina as our bubbly Dynamic Pilates studio manager. While she is a whizz at Mindbody and client liaison, Sarafina also holds a Graduate Degree in Exercise Science and Nutrition. She’s also a certified Mat Pilates, Barre and Yoga Instructor.
Sarafina has a real passion for nutrition and we are thrilled that she will be guiding our 30 Day Challengers with their food choices while on the Challenge. Sarafina will be there to answer nutrition questions and will be posting new recipes and tips on our private Facebook group. She’ll also be checking food diaries at the end of each week and making any adjustments. Welcome, Sarafina!
We caught up with Sarafina to find out a bit more about her love of nutrition…
Q. Where did your passion for nutrition originate from?
My love for healthy eating comes from my mother. She has always been into nutrition and is now a holistic nutritionist. She raised us on rice milk when most people were drinking whole, coconut covered dates were our special dessert, and the sound of the vegetable juicer was my alarm clock every morning. She taught me just how important it is to flood your body with proper nutrients.
Q. Why did you decide to study exercise science & nutrition?
I was a ballet dancer my whole life, and so the body in motion has always been a passion of mine. This and my mother’s nutritional influence fueled my desire to study these topics formally.
Q. What advice do you have for our new Challengers about to start a strict nutrition guide? Any tips?
Be patient. Your body is designed to feel absolutely amazing, however, the first few days of a new eating routine might feel tough. The best tip would be to DRINK MORE WATER!!!
Q. The Challenge is about healthy swaps, what are some favourites of yours?
A simple swap would be to replace grains with greens. If you normally have a side of rice, can you turn that into spinach, kale, bok choy or another favourite green. This is a simple way to get more nutrients into your body while also eliminating a spike in blood sugar.
Q. What is your favourite go-to healthy snack?
I am partial to snacking on raw veg, especially during this time of the year when your body is craving more hydration. Raw fennel and celery are some of my favourites. I also love to make a cup of bone broth when my body needs something nourishing. When I want a special sweet treat, I grab some dried mango. Other great options are packets of peanut butter or clean trail mixes. All great options!
Dynamic Pilates 30 Day Challenge returns on Monday, 12 October. We look forward to welcoming all our new October Challengers and helping them on their wellness journey.
